Sample qEEG Activation Report – Page 2
Theta: 4 – 8 Hertz
Alpha: 8 – 13 Hertz
Beta: 13 – 64 Hertz
It is desirable to have adequate levels of beta activity and low levels of delta and theta activity for adequate cognitive functioning. Coherence and Phase measures indicate the similarity of the waveforms at different locations. It is desirable to have normal or above normal levels of coherence and phase activity (within particular frequencies) during specific cognitive tasks. Particular cognitive tasks will employ different frequencies for successful cognitive activity.
The subject´s electrophysiological pattern revealed deficits (greater than 2 standard deviations from the norm) on the following parameters with Dr. Hudspeth´s database.
Coherence: Increased levels (theta, beta diffuse locations); Decreased levels (delta from F3)
Phase: Decreased levels (beta diffuse locations)
Relative Power: Significant elevations (delta) in diffuse locations
Activation Procedure and Data Collection
The subject underwent nine cognitive tasks while quantitative EEG data/brain mapping data was collected. These tasks involved the following: eyes closed, auditory and visual attention, memory for auditorily presented paragraphs, memory for reading material and problem solving. Data for the two memory tasks involved the input stage, immediate recall and delayed recall. For the problem solving task the Raven’s matrices was employed. The data was visually inspected for artifact. Those epochs which displayed significant artifact were marked for deletion with the Lexicor software. The sampling rate was set to 256 K to allow for collection of the EEG signal up to 64 Hertz. The monitoring/recording lasted approximately 1600 epochs (27 minutes).
